Does insurance cover PRP or tissue and cell injections?

At OrthoIndy, our doctors may prescribe orthobiologic therapies to help injuries and/or conditions (such as arthritic joints, broken bones, injured muscles, tendons or ligaments) heal quicker and in some cases, help delay  joint replacement surgery.

Unfortunately, these  orthobiologic  treatments are not currently covered by insurance. Most insurance programs, Medicare and Medicaid  label PRP and tissue and cell injections as “experimental or investigational” and do not pay for these treatments.

If you are receiving orthobiologic therapies, you will be required to pay for your injection at the time of your treatment.
